Information sought on Port Coquitlam school arson

Coquitlam RCMP believe a structure fire at the back of BC Christian Academy on Fernwood Avenue on July 25 in Port Coquitlam is a case of arson and the public's help is sought in the investigation. Around 10 p.m.

Coquitlam RCMP believe a structure fire at the back of BC Christian Academy on Fernwood Avenue on July 25 in Port Coquitlam is a case of arson and the public's help is sought in the investigation.

Around 10 p.m. on that Monday, someone lit a fire in a garbage can at the back of the school, which was quickly engulfed in flames and the fire spread to a portable classroom nearby. Port Coquitlam Fire and Rescue attended the scene after receiving a fire alarm from the school and successfully extinguished the blaze, but not before substantial damage was done to the portable classroom.

Anyone with information in relation to the fire or who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the fire is asked to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file 2013-20590. Anyone wishing to provide information anonymously can contact Crime Stoppers:
