Port Moody's Domenic Runghen, seven, and his father Nuvin, are looking forward to taking part in Kick for a Cure Saturday at Coquitlam's Town Centre Park.
Nuvin Runghen, a dog handler with the Canadian Border Services Agency, is organizing the fifth annual soccer fest, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include live music and soccer clinics for youth with the Vancouver Whitecaps and Metro-Ford Motors soccer clubs.
Proceeds from the Black Press-sponsored event that collected $81,000 last year go to aid the Coquitlam-based Michael Cuccione Foundation, which has a lab at the BC Children's Hospital and aims to fight childhood cancer.
Domenic Runghen, a Grade 2 student at Pleasantside elementary school in Coquitlam, has been cancer-free for more than a year.
