"We want to bring awareness to the pipeline issue," said Jane Thomsing, a member of the Knitting Nanas Against Gas as she showed some novices how to knit during a "Knit-in for the Future" rally in front of Port Moody-Westwood-Port Coquitlam MP James Moore's office Friday.

The local federal MP wasn't in evidence but the Raging Grannies were on hand to sing songs as part of nation-wide rally against pipelines, tankers and fracking.

The event was also tied to a similar knit-in taking place in Australia and was organized by the activist group Tri-Cities Lead Now.

Thomsing, who also chairs the Colony Farm Park Association, said she is also concerned that Kinder Morgan still plans to assemble part of its proposed Trans Mountain pipeline expansion at the regional park.
