Share Family and Community Services, an agency serving 53,000 residents of the Tri-Cities, is reaching out to supporters for donations, which are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.

New Year’s Eve isn’t the only thing to plan for as the year winds down.

Local organizations, including Share Family and Community Services, are hoping that residents think of making a charitable donation before Dec. 31, the deadline for contributions to count toward this year’s taxes.

This week, the local social service agency sent out an email asking people to contribute as the donations stay close to home.

According to Share, donations provide support for over 53,000 residents of the Tri-Cities through programs and services such as youth substance use services and health promotions, social programs for seniors, counselling, early childhood mental health, the local food bank and more.

The tax incentives can add up to as much as 53% of the charitable donation.
