Late-night lane closures for Evergreen work

Evergreen Line construction continues at both ends with some nighttime lane closures this week.

Starting this week and running to the end of August, crews will be drilling shafts, installing rebar cages and pouring concrete as part of foundation and column construction on the elevated guideway along Pinetree Way. The column's proximity to Barnet Highway traffic means nighttime lane closures will be required between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. on the westbound side of Barnet.

The work is part of construction for Evergreen's substructure, which is followed by work on the elevated guideway and then track work and systems installation.

Once work on the foundations and columns on Pinetree Way is complete, crews will begin construction of the elevated guideway superstructure using the launching truss that is currently building the guideway on North Road.

Construction of the elevated guideway will be ongoing until next spring.

Drivers should also expect intermittent nighttime lane closures on North Road between Lougheed Highway and Gatineau Place for the next two weeks as crews remove the steel brackets, or deck supports, for the new elevated guideway. That work will take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
