Leave the phone alone, Coquitlam RCMP say

It seems some people aren't getting the message when it comes to distracted driving.

Volunteers wrote down licence plate numbers of 32 drivers who were spotted openly texting or on their phones at the corner of North Road and Austin Avenue this week.

"Those people are going to be getting warning letters - that is part of the education we are doing," Chung said.

Normally, those who flout the law are fined $167 and get three driver penalty points.

The texting drivers were spotted in just a few hours over a couple of days.
