Editor,
As we reach over six months dealing with COVID-19 we all should be used to what is expected of each other — life as it is right now should be a learned habit.
However, it is sad to see how many people out there have slipped into old habits so quickly. While out enjoying the beautiful weather on our many trails it is very frustrating how few people actually have manners, or think about others.
Several times over the past few weeks on walks along the dikes or in the local Port Coquitlam trails, I came across people who do not move over when you are passing, walking in two’s or three’s as if the other person does not exist.
As for the biking community, there are some of those elite cyclists who think they are the only important person on the trail, they have the big $1,000 bikes and the fancy clothes but the most atrocious manners. They must not be able to afford a $5 bell for their bikes. Failing that what is wrong with calling out “coming by on your left.”
While out walking I have been almost knocked over by these arrogant cyclists, no apology just an almost “get out of my way” tone. I am fed up of this disgusting treatment.
I am also a cyclist. I have a horn on my bike and I also call out if people have not heard me coming. I slow down when passing or wait for them to move over. It costs me three seconds, that is all, and most of us have time to spare these days so what is the hurry.
So word of warning: I’m getting fed up of the rude people so get a life and be kind, be safe.
