The Editor:

I want to applaud and highly commend our Coquitlam emergency services for their very prompt, efficient, life-saving services.

On the morning of July 17, I experienced a health emergency.

My daughter called 911, and within seven minutes the emergencies fire department services personnel was at my home, asking pertinent questions, determined and promptly made a call for the ambulance service.

Within less than 10 minutes, the ambulance and their efficient, competent team was here, loading me, transporting me to the Royal Columbian Hospital.

Within 20 minutes I was at the hospital, closely monitored, stabilized my heart function and feeling calm in competent care.

One-and-a-half hours later, Dr. Lo had inserted a stent in the blocked artery, and I was in the recovery room feeling overwhelmed at the efficiency, competence of the multi levels of the team of personnel care providers, nurses and doctor.

During my five-day stay in hospital, I received attentive, closely monitored care from the staff of nurses, doctors and attending care providers, a visit from the dietitian for menu preferences and accommodations.

I have a huge commendation for Favia, a student nurse, whose energy, perceptiveness, personable attention to detail and care are extraordinary.

A huge thank you for all the expeditious, attentive life and health care supporters providing this exceptional health care for me, giving me a second chance at life.

With extreme gratitude.
