The Editor,

Three cheers for Coquitlam.

Between the Guildford Greenway protected bike lanes, the Lougheed link multi-use path and the introduction of micro-mobility rentals, council is taking the necessary steps to make getting around without a car not just possible, but practical and convenient for a wide variety of trips.

For my family, safe and abundant micro-mobility isn’t just a form of recreation, but a better alternative to owning a second car.

For young adults, it means greater independence during a cost-of-living crisis.

And for those who need to drive on a given trip, it means fewer cars on the road and less time spent in traffic.

I urge my city council to follow our neighbours' lead — the sooner, the better.
