Correction: the article orginally stated the first power outage affected Port Coquitlam when, in fact, most of the neighbourhoods affected are in the city of Coquitlam.
The lights went out for about 1,700 Coquitlam customers Tuesday at around 8 p.m. due to an underground equipment fault.
The outage affected the neighbourhoods of Essondale, Mayfair and Dartmoor, and extended to the south side of Highway 1 to the Fraser River.
Crews will be heading to an outage affecting 1400 customers in #PortCoquitlam. They’ll share updates on our mobile site: https://t.co/SGKvP4reWk pic.twitter.com/yXS2erOgen

About 900 homes had their power restored by about 9:45 p.m., while the rest had to wait until 7:30 a.m. this morning for their lights to come back on.
On the other side of the Tri-Cities, 47 households had their electricity cut in a planned outage to service equipment near Miller Park.
Power is expected to be restored by about 5:30 p.m. today.
