Port Moody parents coping with kids cooped up by the COVID-19 pandemic can get some relief this summer.
The city will be offering a limited number of summer day camps beginning July 6 through Sept. 4.
The camps, for 6- to 11- year-olds, will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at Genayre and Heritage Mountain community centres, Moody middle school and at the recreation complex. The junior epic summer camp, for 9- to 11-year-olds, will also be held at the rec complex.
All camps will follow provincial health and safety guidelines that include frequent hand washing, outdoor activities as much as possible, extra cleaning of indoor areas, and physical distancing,
although the latter may not always be possible during games or while using playground equipment.
Online registration for the camps begins 8 a.m., June 9, at portmoody.ca/signmeup. Phone registration opens at 8 a.m., June 10, at 604-469-4556.
Cost for each week of camp is $140 per child.
As for the city’s pools: While the pool at Rocky Point Park will remain closed for the summer, Westhill pool will open July 4 for registered length and family swim times, as well as swim club. An opening date for spray parks has yet to be determined.
