A 28-year-old man had to be rescued via helicopter after falling at Granite Falls in Indian Arm last Sunday afternoon.
Coquitlam Search and Rescue was called out for the incident but once on scene, the victim's location made walking him out on a backboard too treacherous.
North Shore Search and Rescue was called for the second time in two weeks to Coquitlam's area to conduct a long-line rescue. The man was lowered into a nearby Coast Guard hovercraft for transport to hospital.
According to Coquitlam SAR manager Michael Hoyle, the man likely suffered broken ankles and potential spinal damage.
"This was the kind of thing that long line is perfect for," he said, given with spinal precautions, moving the man by zodiac would have been too jarring.
Granite Falls is known as a "party place," said Coyle, who noted many people boat out to the area.
In addition to Coquitlam and North Shore searchers, the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue team from the Indian Arm station and a Coast Guard vessel from Deep Cove participated in the rescue.
