The closure of Riverview Hospital has meant route changes for one Port Coquitlam bus.
The 177 Coquitlam Station to Braid Station bus has been discontinued due to low ridership, according to TransLink, which beginning Sept. 2 will instead reroute the 159 Port Coquitlam Station to Braid Station bus along some of the 177's former route along United Boulevard via Fraser Mills.
However, to reduce the impacts of the 177's cancellation, the 169 Coquitlam Station/Braid Station will be rerouted off of Lougheed Highway onto Cape Horn and Colony Road during peak hours.
According to the transportation authority, the public was consulted on the change in the fall of 2012 as part of ongoing efforts to optimize service.
Riverview Hospital was closed last summer after 100 years of service as the province's psychiatric hospital.
