A former Coquitlam councillor is looking to win another seat in city hall.

Doug Macdonell, who lost his seat in the 2011 civic election, announced he is running for one of the two vacant seats in the Oct. 26 byelection.

The positions have been vacant since the spring, when former councillors Selina Robinson and Linda Reimer were elected to provincial office.

Macdonell, a retired RCMP officer, lost his council job in 2011 by 102 votes and is expected to be one of a handful of people running in the October byelection.

In a press release, he said he is proud of his record as a councillor, noting community safety and transportation are his top priorities.
