An early-morning crash in Port Moody on Sunday has left a man in his 30s dead after his vehicle plunged off the embankment off David Avenue near the Noons Creek bridge.

The Port Moody Police responded just after 12:30 a.m.; BC Ambulance and the Port Moody fire department were already on scene. The driver, a PoMo resident, was deceased. Const. Luke van Winkel said police would not identify the victim as he was involved in coaching local sports teams and they wanted to wait until the children had been notified.

A crane was needed to lift the vehicle back up on to the roadway.

Police say the incident is still under investigation but speed may have been a factor. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 604-461-3456.
