An 80-year-old man remains in serious condition Wednesday after being struck by a car while crossing St. Johns Street in Port Moody Tuesday night.
Const. Luke van Winkel of the Port Moody Police told The Tri-City News that at approximately 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, the elderly man was running across St. Johns Street at Moody Street against the red light.
"An eastbound Pontiac station wagon was proceeding through the intersection on a green light and was unable to stop," van Winkel said.
The man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries where he remained Wednesday afternoon.
Neither speed nor alcohol are considered contributing factors in the accident and no charges will be laid against the driver.
The name of the injured man has not been released pending the notification of his family, van Winkel said.
