A man in his 40s has been rescued days after he was pulled into a vehicle and kidnapped in Port Moody.

In a statement, PMPD spokesperson Const. Sam Zacharias said officers from several B.C. police teams brought the hostage to safety today (April 21) after he was located in Mission.

He added that "multiple arrests" have been made in the investigation, which is still ongoing.

PMPD received "multiple" 911 calls around 10 a.m. on Wednesday (April 19) after witnesses reported seeing a man being pulled into a vehicle along Murray Street in the area of Brewer's Row.

However, Zacharias explained police were not able to share the case with the public "to protect the sensitive nature" of those involved in the "complex" investigation.

He said the public's safety was never in danger.

PMPD called in Vancouver Police Department's (VPD) major crimes to take lead on the case.

The man's rescue today was performed by the VPD Emergency Response Team (ERT), the RCMP's Lower Mainland District Integrated ERT and the BC Conservation Officer Service.

No other information is being released, Zacharias added.

Anyone with more information on the incident is encouraged to call PMPD at 604-461-3456 and quote file-number 2023-2048.
