The mechanical fitness of a dump truck involved in a collision with three vehicles on North Road Tuesday afternoon will likely be the subject of further investigation, says the Coquitlam RCMP.
Three people were taken to Royal Columbian Hospital, two with serious but not life threatening injuries, after a dump truck traveling south on North Road, jackknifed when the driver applied the brakes. The truck then hit three northbound vehicles, according to Cpl. Jamie Chung.
No charges have been laid but traffic was diverted throughout Tuesday afternoon and into the evening to permit the Integrated the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service to investigate the crash that took place on the Coquitlam stretch of North Road at the New Westminster border.
The road didn't reopen until 9:30 Tuesday night, Chung said.
