Melissa Hyndes, Port Moody school trustee, was re-elected chair of the board of education at Tuesday night's meeting and Holly Butterfield, representing Anmore and Belcarra, will be vice-chair.
Hyndes will stick-handle numerous issues over the coming months, including the the district's audit of financial issues and the Learning, Lands and Neighbourhood initiatives looking at four school properties. Both of those issues are expected to be dealt with at the board's next meeting, at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 14 at the board offices.
Meanwhile, schools are getting ready for the annual winter break, with the last day of classes Friday, Dec. 20. School will resume Monday, Jan. 6.
