A six-month snapshot of MLA pay and expenses was made public this week, including costs incurred by the Tri-Cities' four provincial representatives.
According to the disclosures for April 1 to Sept. 30, Port Coquitlam NDP MLA and finance critic Mike Farnworth was paid the base income of $51,069 plus $2,372 in additional salaries for his parliamentary roles while Coquitlam-Burke Mountain BC Liberal MLA Doug Horne, the deputy speaker, earned the base rate plus $9,474 in additional wages.
Former Coquitlam city councillors Linda Reimer, who was elected in May as the BC Liberal MLA for Port Moody-Coquitlam and is the parliamentary secretary for local government, collected $39,069 in salary plus $4,730 in additional pay while NDP MLA for Coquitlam-Maillardville Selina Robinson, the opposition's local government critic, did not receive any extra remuneration other than her base salary of $39,069.
As for living expenses in Victoria (including per diem payments for food and incidentals) and travel to the provincial capital, the four politicians claimed for the six-month period:
Farnworth: $13,712;
Horne: $17,884;
Reimer: $6,225;
Robinson: $9,579;
The semi-annual disclosures fulfill a promise made by the legislative assembly management committee earlier this year.
