It’s grad season and thousands of graduating students across School District 43 will be celebrating.

For many students, photos showing off their grad finery will be part of the fun.

To make it easy — and to highlight some pretty awesome locations for Instagram photos — the City of Port Coquitlam is posting a list of its local sites for snaps.

And, to help graduates mark their special milestone, the City of Port Coquitlam has erected "Congrats Grad 2023" photo backdrops.

The backdrops have been placed in the following locations:

  • Blakeburn Park (1010 Riverside Dr.)
  • Lions Park (2300 Lions Way)
  • Castle Park (2252 Castle Cres.)

Other initiatives to congratulate PoCo grads include:

  • declaring June 19–25 Grad Week
  • posting a congratulatory message in the Tri-City News, and installing an underpass banner on Shaughnessy Street and digital billboards starting the week of June 19
  • lighting up city hall in each of the five-secondary school colours (Terry Fox Secondary, Riverside Secondary, Archbishop Carney, École des Pionniers and BC Christian Academy) starting June 16 and sharing on social media
