Coquitlam Search and Rescue long lined a 59-year-old mother after she injured her ankle while hiking with her daughter on Mother's Day.

Imagine dangling from a rope high in the sky over Coquitlam?

That's what happened to one 59-year-old woman who was rescued from Eage Ridge by Coquitlam Search and Rescue on Sunday.

The local search team reported on Twitter that the mother and daughter were out hiking on Mother's Day when the mom hurt her ankle.

She had to be long lined to safety, which involves safe transport from a helicopter. She was brought to Eagle Mountain Park in Coquitlam.

This is the time of year when hikers start heading to the hills around the Tri-Cities. People are reminded to social distance from other groups by keeping two metres away and to carry the 10 essentials in case they run into trouble.
