Coquitlam RCMP are warning people at one housing complex to be extra vigilant about the security of their building.

Two storage lockers were broken into at 3110 Dayanee Springs Blvd. Sunday night. It appears as if the suspect gained access to the building through the parking garage.

"Storage locker break-ins are often crimes of opportunity," said Cpl. Jamie Chung. "A criminal will wait until an unsuspecting resident lets them in. Once they're in, they have easy access to residents' cars, lockers and even their homes."

He said waiting for the parking gate to close completely could be the most valuable few seconds a resident spends.
