MP Fin Donnelly won't run for the BC NDP

New Westminster-Coquitlam constituents will have Fin Donnelly as their member of Parliament a little longer because the veteran politician said he won't be running for leadership of the provincial NDP.

New Westminster-Coquitlam constituents will have Fin Donnelly as their member of Parliament a little longer because the veteran politician said he won't be running for leadership of the provincial NDP.

Donnelly told supporters who asked during his holiday open house Wednesday that he wouldn't be running for the post vacated by Adrian Dix and confirmed his decision to the media Thursday.

Burnaby-New Westminster MP Peter Julian also confirmed he wouldn't be running.

"It came down to talking to my family and key supporters and deciding the best fit for me," Donnelly said, explaining that the federal NDP stands a greater chance of forming government than ever before and he wants to be part of the team.
