The intersection of Guildford Way and Johnson Street in Coquitlam is currently closed but may be open by 4 p.m. after a serious accident between a large truck and a car this afternoon.
Coquitlam RCMP is investigating the MVA and reported that none of the driverssuffered life-threatening injuries.
Tri-City News reader Michelle Stevens said the accident occurred around 1:15 p.m. and involved a smaller black car driven by a woman and a truck. The car was partially trapped under one of the truck's wheels, said Stevens, who was driving down Johnson from her job as a noon-hour supervisor at Summit middle school.
She said the car was up on the sidewalk and a light pole had been knocked down.
With the closure of the intersection, some buses may be rerouted. Westbound traffic on Guildford is currently be rerouted to Pacific Street.
Cpl. Jamie Chung of Coquitlam RCMP said officers are still working on their investigation to determine what caused the crash.
He also noted the driver of the car was fortunate to escape serious injury.
