Power is out in a swath of Coquitlam town centre.

Update: As of 10:30 a.m., power is reportedly back on in this neighbourhood after a 1.5 hour outage.

A power outage is under investigation in Coquitlam after power went out in an area of the city just before 9 a.m. Monday (April 24).

As many as 1,822 customers are affected, according to BC Hydro's outage map.

The area affected is roughly between Johnson Street and Pipeline Road and Lougheed Highway to Trevor Wingrove Way.

It includes much of Coquitlam City Centre between the Lincoln and Lafarge Lake SkyTrain stations.

According to BC Hydro, a crew is on the way.

This isn't the first time Coquitlam was hit by a power outage in recent days.

On April 15, power was out for several hours in an area north of Como Lake Avenue, south of Pinetree Way, east of Mariner Way and west of Shaughnessy Street, affecting 3,400 customers.

The cause of that power outage was a downed wire in the area of Lougheed Highway near Westwood Street.
