New BC Centre for Disease Control data for Aug. 24-30, 2021, breaks down the Tri-Cities into five neighbourhoods for more detailed information: North Coquitlam, Southwest Coquitlam, Southeast Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody-Anmore-Belcarra.

Double-vaccination rates against COVID-19 are still increasing in the Tri-Cities.

According to new data from the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), the entire region currently folds a collective average of 80.4% among eligible residents aged 12 years and older who've received two vaccine doses.

As of this publication (Sept. 2), four of the five surveillance neighbourhoods are at or above 80% individually; Port Coquitlam remains at 79%.

While immunization rates are going up, the rate of confirmed COVID-19 infections is also on a significant rise, likely resulting from the Delta variant.

The new numbers — collected between Aug. 24 and 30 — broken down among the five surveillance neighbourhoods are as follows.

Case rates are new cases per 100,000 people by local health area and community health service area:

North Coquitlam

  • Case rate: 14
  • 5% positivity rate
  • 86% of 12+ population vaccinated with at least one dose
  • 80% of 12+ population vaccinated with a second dose

  • 3% positivity rate
  • 87% of 12+ population vaccinated with at least one dose

  • 86% of 12+ population vaccinated with at least one dose
  • 80% of 12+ population vaccinated with a second dose

Port Coquitlam

  • 5% positivity rate
  • 86% of 12+ population vaccinated with at least one dose
  • 79% of 12+ population vaccinated with a second dose

Port Moody-Anmore-Belcarra

SPECIAL EVENT CLINICS

If you plan on visiting the BC Highland Games in Coquitlam on Saturday (Sept. 4), and are still in need of a COVID-19 vaccine, you'll be in luck.

Fraser Health is setting up a six-hour vaccination station in Lafarge Lake Park for anyone that's eligible to get immunized — no appointment necessary.

It's part of the authority's ongoing efforts to provide convenient locations for those aged 12 and older who need a first or second dose.

No personal health number is required. If you're planning to be inoculated a second time, you're strongly encouraged to bring your vaccination card.

Jabs will be administered between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. as capacity and supplies allow.

As well, Douglas College's second walk-in clinic in one week is scheduled to take place Sept. 8 and is open for post-secondary students, staff and the general public.

It'll take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Room B3051.

For those seeking a first dose, you don't need to have a personal health number or be a resident of B.C. as some students may be from outside the province.

Fraser Health says those seeking a second dose will need to have received an invitation through B.C.'s GetVaccinated portal or have waited a minimum of 28 days since the first jab, and are encouraged to bring their immunization card.
