A group of correctional officers at North Fraser Pretrial Centre have started a fundraising campaign for the family of a Maple Ridge man suffering from ALS.

Staff at NFPC are putting together their own ice bucket challenge videos. The correctional officer with the best clip will win an opportunity to splash a manager of their choosing.

Money will go to the Sands family, whose father Mike was diagnosed with ALS in 2011. The money will be used to pay for education for his wife and children.

Guards at jails across the region are participating in the challenge, including staff at Fraser Regional Correctional Centre and Alouette Correctional Centre for Women.
