A new company has connected with the city of Coquitlam to offer ultra-broadband internet, telephone and HD TV services to highrises and businesses in the city.

Novus Entertainment is now able to lease the city's 50 km of unlit fibre optic cables, which are owned and operated by the Coquitlam Optical Network Corp., better known as QNet. The high-speed cables can deliver up to 300 megabytes per second.

Novus is the eighth telecom service provider to link with QNet; the others include Uniserve, Allstream, Bell, Telus and Shaw.

"It's great to see some smaller companies in there," QNet GM Rick Adams said. "It brings in more opportunity and the competition is good for the customer."
