Downtown Port Coquitlam transformed into a pedestrian-only zone Sunday for the 11th annual car show.
Organized by the PoCo Business Improvement Association and sponsored in part by The Tri-City News, the hugely popular event saw tens of thousands of visitors walk the streets to get a glimpse at the 400-plus vintage, classic, muscle and other unique vehicles on display.
Owners of Shaughnessy Street businesses affected by last month's devastating fire — including as Urban Man Cave and the Giggle Dam — also got in on the action while dozens of children built toy cars in The Outlet and the Leigh Square bandshell featured live acts.
"I think it was one of our best shows. It was excellent," MC Bruce Richardson said. "It went pretty smoothly for us and it was one of those days that seemed to go by so fast."
The Saturday night cruise through Port Coquitlam, which ran down David Avenue to Heritage Woods secondary in Port Moody, also had a record number of participants. Richardson said many residents were in lawn chairs waiting on the side of the road to applaud the 120 vehicles that drove by.
