Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Here we go again.

The deadline for someone to claim a $1 million prize in the lottery is just a week away and the ticket is still unclaimed.

Is the person waiting until the last second just to torture us? Is the ticket lost? Is it sitting in a drawer somewhere forgotten?

I’m freaking out here. I know this shouldn’t bother me because it’s not my money, but the thought of someone missing out on life-changing money because they were careless is something preying on my mind.

When I buy lottery tickets, I guard them like they are Faberge eggs. Logic tells me I won’t win, but for that fleeting time before I check my numbers and have my soul crushed are something to enjoy. I never throw away lottery tickets. I checked them more than once. Missing out is a nightmare.

This Lotto 6/49 ticket was purchased in the northern Vancouver Island region of B.C. and it expires at midnight on March 18, 2021. BCLC is encouraging players who purchased a ticket for the March 18, 2020 draw in this region to check their tickets for the winning number: 19117903-02.

Players can find the Guaranteed Prize Draw number displayed underneath the main set of six numbers and can check their tickets anytime on the BCLC Lotto! app here. The North Island region includes Alert Bay, Telegraph Cove, Port Hardy, Coal Harbour and Port McNeill, among other municipalities. All lottery prize winners have 52 weeks from the draw date printed on their ticket to come forward to claim their prize and all tickets are valid for one year after the date of the draw. The specific retail location where the winning lottery ticket was purchased, and the lottery winner’s name will be announced after the winner has come forward to claim the prize.

In 2020, BCLC paid out more than $691 million in lottery prizes.

Please, I'm begging this person to step forward. Put me out of my misery.
