Organizers needed for Coquitlam, PoMo Fox Runs

Officials with the Terry Fox Foundation are looking for help to organize the 31st annual Terry Fox Runs in Coquitlam and Port Moody.

Officials with the Terry Fox Foundation are looking for help to organize the 31st annual Terry Fox Runs in Coquitlam and Port Moody.

Donna Louie, who was in charge of the first Coquitlam run last year, is now working with the provincial charity based in Port Coquitlam and is not allowed to be a volunteer run organizer.

"There are already many things in place and the sooner you start, the easier it is," Louie said.

And in Port Moody, the Rotary Club wants to take a back seat for this year's event but will offer its services again if no one steps forward, she said.

The 31st annual Terry Fox Run happens on Sunday, Sept. 18, with the National School Run Day scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Since Fox, a PoCo hometown hero, started his Marathon of Hope across Canada in 1980, more than $500 million has been raised in his memory to fight cancer.

Coquitlam and Port Moody run organizing candidates can call the foundation at 604-464-2666 to apply.
