A teenage girl was taken to hospital late Monday night after she was struck at Lougheed Highway and Pinetree Way in Coquitlam.

RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung said police received a call around midnight to attend the scene and the girl was transported to hospital with a broken leg and possibly internal injuries while the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene. "He co-operated with the investigator," Cpl. Jamie Chung said.

The intersection was shut down for several hours while the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service team performed an investigation and was re-opened Tuesday at about 6 a.m.

Cpl. Chung said drugs and alcohol were not a factor and although the road was wet, it was clear of snow and ice.

"We will be reviewing the witness statements to get the complete picture of this crash and we will be talking to ICARS to to get the technical side of this incident," Cpl. Chung said.

The teenage girl is in stable condition in hospital.
