COQUITLAM — Squish 2.0 celebrated its grand opening with several Tri-Cities community leaders, as well as mall visitors looking for refreshing drinks.

The expansion of a popular Port Coquitlam juice bar into Coquitlam Centre is a full circle moment for its owners.

Callan and Jessica Morrison were joined by several Tri-Cities community leaders, dignitaries and supporters tonight, Oct. 13, for Squish Juicery's official grand opening inside the mall.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at what the Morrison's are calling "Squish 2.0," located down the hall from the food court near House of Knives.

Both were as excited during the event as they were when they spoke earlier with the Tri-City News during the construction process.

"We both had our first jobs at Coquitlam Centre, when we were 16," Jessica Morrison said in an earlier interview.

"We are beyond excited to be joining the incredible team at Coquitlam Centre, who have worked closely with us over the past year and can't wait to join all the other amazing businesses in the mall."

Cold press juices have become a popular choice for many looking for a refreshing drink that is also flavourful — and healthy.

In a 2019 interview, when Squish Juicery first opened in Port Coquitlam (180B-2099 Lougheed Hwy.), the Morrisons told the Tri-City News that they became interested in cold pressed juice for its health benefits.

The Coquitlam Centre location is offering an expanded menu with some healthy plant-based salads, smoothies and smoothie bowls.

"We hope that the community loves the elevation of Squish and what we like to call Squish 2.0."

Notable attendees for Squish Juicery's opening included Coquitlam Coun. Dennis Marsden as acting mayor, Couns. Craig Hodge, Matt Djonlic, Brent Asmundson and Teri Towner, as well as Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce board member Chris Chong.
