The robotics revolution is happening. En francais.

On Friday, 45 teams of students in Grades 4 to 8 from 15 French schools that comprise the Conseil scolaire francophone de la Colombie-Britannique tested their engineering and computer programming skills at the first French-language robotics competition at École des Pionniers-de-Maillardville in Port Coquitlam.

The event was run in partnership with Robotique Zone 01. It challenged the younger students to make a presentation on the robots they designed and constructed with Lego bricks and parts to accomplish specific missions. The older students built and programmed robots to complete a series of tasks while travelling along a prescribed route, and then faced-off against other robots in the battle ring.

Top teams at the end of the day-long competition could qualify to go on to the national robotics championships that will be held in Montreal May 31.
