A Port Moody man could be facing charges for drug trafficking and firearm offences after he was stopped on Klahanie Drive.
According to PoMo Police Department, on the evening of Oct. 23, a PMPD officer stopped a white Ford Explorer outside 300 Klahanie Dr. The 33-year-old driver was later arrested for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. Police searched the vehicle and found about 27 grams of cocaine and more than $4,000 in cash.
The next day, PoMo cops executed a search warrant at the man's apartment in Klahanie, where they found more drugs and two loaded handguns.
The accused is well known to police around the Lower Mainland and has a history of violence and drug possession.
Port Moody Police made another arrest on Oct. 23, this time in the 700-block of Dogwood Street in Coquitlam. An officer on patrol in the area, which is near the Mood border, stopped the vehicle and arrested the 36-year-old Coquitlam resident, who is also known to police in the Tri-Cities, for drug possession. A search of the vehicle resulted in seizure of more than nine grams of marijuana and about two grams of methamphetamine.
The ,am, who was breaching a recognizance at the time, was an unlicensed driver and a vehicle impound candidate. Further investigation revealed the vehicle and licence plate on it were both stolen, and a charge of possession of stolen property was added.
Officers later found the man and a female associate had used fake names and identification while signing their rental lease.
On Nov. 1, officers executed a search warrant at their Dogwood Street home and found numerous stolen identification documents and stolen property; additional stolen items were also found in the garage.
