A Port Coquitlam industrial building was shutdown temporarily Wednesday morning after police received a call about a suspicious package in the area.
The call came in shortly after 7:30 a.m. for the 1600-block of Broadway Street, however police were able to quickly determine that the object posed no danger to the public.
"We always have to take these precautions," said Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Michael McLaughlin. "As soon as we got a good look at the object, we discovered there was nothing suspicious about it."
RCMP cruisers blocked the parking lot to the building for several hours, while police conducted their investigation.
McLaughlin said the people that phoned in the suspicious package did the right thing and that police were following procedures by closing off the area.
