Salmon is on the menu when crews from the Port Coquitlam Fire and Emergency Services light up the barbecue at Castle Park on Canada Day.
The event will take place between 3 and 6 p.m. with all proceeds from the $10 dinner going to the B.C. Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund. Hot dogs and burgers will also be on the menu and last year's event raised $1,500 for charity.
The salmon barbecue is not the only thing that will be taking place at Castle Park in honour of Canada's 148th birthday.
A pancake breakfast will be be put on by the Lions Club between 8 and 11:30 a.m. and there will be a free fishing derby for with prizes for children.
The festivities will shift to Castle Park in the afternoon, starting with the opening ceremony and raising of the flag at noon, followed by a community showcase from diverse cultural talents between 12:30 and 5:30 p.m. There will also be an international bazaar offering a variety of cultural wares.
Food vendors will also be on hand between noon and dusk, including Cheeses Crust, Gypsy Food Truck, Maria's Homestyle Perogies, Master Chef Kebob House, Mr. Cool Ice Cream, Tubsters Lil Donuts, Hot Rod Smokes and Squires Cotton Candy.
There will be music between 6 p.m. and dusk, when a fireworks will end the day.
