Port Coquitlam's smart growth committee last week approved the lounge for Tin Shed Brewing's liquor manufacturing licence.

Port Coquitlam will get another microbrewery — and it’ll be within walking distance to the city’s first.

Last week, the smart growth committee OK’d a lounge for Tin Shed Brewing Inc.’s liquor manufacturing licence.

Its approval, which is now with the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) for consideration, limits the tasting room to the city policy of 25 seats; it also restricts Tin Shed’s closing times to 9 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 8 p.m. Sundays.

Committee chair Coun. Brad West, who is running for mayor, said he has asked city staff to return with a report to committee to look at potentially increasing the number of lounge seats in city microbrews (a second one, Taylight, opened on Kebet Way this summer — three weeks after Northpaw).

“It’s great to see this becoming a growing business in Port Coquitlam,” West said of the craft brew manufacturing.

Once officially green-lighted, Tin Shed will open its brewery in the industrial zone at 2140-550 Sherling Pl., near Northpaw Brew Co. in the Dominion Triangle.
