Roofing work at the Lilydale Food Products warehouse on Kingsway Avenue in Port Coquitlam likely led to a fire that shut down the building Friday morning.
PoCo Fire Chief Nick Delmonico said a torch being used by workers is believed to have started the blaze.
The fire did only minimal damage to the warehouse and the building was able to re-open for business a short time later.
"There was not a ton of damage from a fire perspective," Delmonico said. "They were still operational. We had the place shut down for about an hour."
Crews arrived on the scene at around 11 a.m. and were able to contain the blaze a short time later. Some of the fire went into the roof structure and parts of the ceiling had to be cut open to knock down the flames.
Three trucks and 15 PoCo firefighters were on the scene to battle the fire.
