A stolen wallet more than a year ago has turned into an even bigger headache for the owner, who now appears to be the victim of identity theft.
On June 28, 2014, the wallet containing credit and debit cards, a driver's licence and several cheques made out to the victim was stolen from an office in the 3000-block of Lincoln Avenue.
On July 10, 2015, the victim began receiving calls from a collection agency about unpaid mobile phone bills. Since he doesn't have a cell phone and has never opened such an account, he realized his identity was compromised and reported it to the police.
Investigators were able to get a photo of the man who allegedly cashed the cheques at a Money Mart last September.
