A Port Moody man will face a charge of sexual interference in Ontario after fleeing B.C.
In July 2011 the Port Moody Police major crime section responded to a report that a 12-year-old girl had been the victim of sexual interference at the hands of her mother's live-in boyfriend.
The suspect, a 47-year-old PoMo man, was arrested a short time later and released on a promise to appear in Port Coquitlam Provincial court in September. He was also to abide by several conditions.
The man didn't show up for court and a province-wide warrant was issued for his arrest. PMPD detectives located an address for the accused in St. Thomas, Ontario and had the warrant extended to Canada-wide.
St. Thomas Police attended the address only to find the suspect had moved. They located a new address, at which time the Ontario Provincial Police arrested the man in Elgin County.
After discussions between Crown counsel and the man's lawyer, it was decided the charges would be waived to Ontario and the man would plead guilty. He is currently out on recognizance until he's sentenced.
Out of consideration for the victim, the Port Moody Police are not releasing the name of the suspect.
