A 39-year-old Port Moody man was issued a number of tickets after what police have described as a road rage incident Tuesday around 10 a.m.

Port Moody Police Department was called to the St. Johns Street and Mary Street area after one driver took exception to another's speed as they headed westbound on St. Johns.

After yelling at the driver to slow down, the Port Moody man threw a pen at a 21-year-old Port Coquitlam man's car.

The PoCo man then allegedly changed lanes in front of the PoMo man's car resulting in a minor collision, said PMPD Const. Luke van Winkel in a press release. The PoCo male exited his vehicle and started banging on the other car hood, causing the PoMo man to fear for his safety and allegedly drive off. In the ensuring departure, the PoCo man was knocked to the ground with minor injuries to his arm.

Police ticketed the PoMo man for fail to remain at the scene of an accident, fail to render assistance and drive without due car, and more.

No criminal charges are being sought, said van Winkel.

"If you are upset about someone's driving behaviour, please contact the local police non-emergency line. The police can and will deal with these matters," he said. "It is not worth putting yourself in danger over a driving complaint."
