A Port Coquitlam mom who reached out to the media after she and her son were left homeless by fire last week is getting some help.

But, says the city's mayor, more is needed.

Greg Moore and the Homes for Good Society are helping Chyme Cummings and her 15-year-old son get re-settled after the home in which they were renting suites in burned down.

They have been staying in a hotel paid for by the Red Cross Society and that funding ends on Sunday May 17.

"Housing has been obtained for June 1 and it would be wonderful if our community could help this local family out," Homes for Good states on its Go Fund Me Account.

Another local non-profit run by the Soroptimists, is also looking at ways to set Cummingds up with household goods. A spokesperson from Bea's Kloset, confirmed they would look at ways to provide support.
