Cassandra Curtis is celebrating the one-year anniversary of Cassandra Cake Co. on Saturday, March 4.

A popular Port Coquitlam bakery with a Food Network pedigree and an award-winning brewery are joining forces to celebrate their business anniversaries.

Cassandra Cake Co. and Patina Brewing Co. Brewing House and BBQ are celebrating with an afternoon of family activities from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday (March 4) followed by an after party.

The two businesses are located on Marpole Street in downtown Port Coquitlam: Patina opened three years ago at 2332 Marpole St. and Cassandra Cake Co. opened last year at 2331 Marpole St.

With two businesses partnering, the event is sure to be a crowd pleaser with music, games and prizes in the afternoon, followed by an after party featuring Patina beer, southern barbecue and cake.

The event is on rain or shine.

Many readers might recall how bakery owner Cassandra Curtis and her teammates, Dalana Fleming and Emily Skazlic, won the The Big Bake competition on Nov. 1, 2021, in a fast-paced episode on the Food Network that showed three teams competing to make giant Christmas-themed cakes that could move, sing or light up.

Patina Brewery, meanwhile, won an honourable mention in the 2022 BC Bear Awards for its dark lager, among the top for beers out of 18 entries in the category.
