Port Coquitlam dog picked out of nearly 45k entries for national pet calendar

“It’s silly. But I’m a proud dog mom," says owner

Of the nearly 45,000 pet photos submitted this year to appear in the annual Dog Guides fundraising calendar, Luci, a two-year-old PoCo Border Collie, just got the nod.

“She’s Miss April! I’m pretty stoked,” said Luci’s owner Niki Pike, adding, “It’s silly. But I’m a proud dog mom.”

Luci has got the looks, but she’s also got brains, according to Pike. The dog just started sheep herding class and always keeps Pike on her toes.

The dog is one of 13 pets chosen to be featured in the 2020 calendar, from which 100% of the proceeds will go to support the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides. Of the other 12 critters included in the calendar, cats, a chameleon, a hamster, a hedgehog and, or course, dogs made the cut.

The calendars will be available by-donation at each of the four Bosley’s by Pet Valu stores in the Tri-Cities.
