A woman Coquitlam RCMP labelled a "priority offender" last year has been sentenced to three months in jail.
Sherri-Ann Bennett, 34, was arrested in December after police responded to reports of squatters in an abandoned house on Manning Avenue in Port Coquitlam.
At the time, she was facing 11 outstanding arrest warrants for multiple counts of possession of stolen ID and other property, breaches of conditions, mischief, failure to appear, uttering threats and theft.
When Bennett failed to appear for a court date in January, an arrest warrant was issued. About a week later, a patrolling Mountie spotted her riding a bicycle near Lougheed Highway and used his emergency lights, sirens and air horn to get her to stop.
Bennett instead pedalled faster and headed down a narrow path, with the officer chasing on foot. She then got off her bike and tried to run away but the officer caught up to her and she was arrested.
Last week, she was sentenced to three months in jail, followed by two years of probation.
