Fraser Health said in a statement tonight that it is “actively following up” with any individuals who had contact with a staff member who works at North Fraser Pretrial Centre who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Fraser Health chief medical health officer Dr. Martin Lavoie said in a statement that he is “confident that the risk of exposure to the general public is low. At this time, there are no other confirmed cases among staff or individuals in custody at the centre.”
This case comes on the heels of an outbreak at the federal Mission Insitution.
“Fraser Health Public Health is working with BC Corrections and the Provincial Health Services Authority to identify any individuals who may have had contact with the staff member,” said a statement. “Following provincial health guidelines, Public Health will contact these individuals directly to determine if they are symptomatic and that appropriate self-isolation measures are being taken.”
