Climate Change Action Earth
Help Port Coquitlam deal with climate change in this interactive online meeting.

Extreme weather is reminding us we all have to make changes to reduce greenhouse gasses that can cause climate change.

To that end, the City of Port Coquitlam is inviting all residents to register for an upcoming virtual event to join the city's project team for an interactive session on its draft Climate Action Plan.

The event takes place on Tues. June 21 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Port Coquitlam's Climate Action Plan lays out its approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and managing the impacts of climate change on civic services and the community.

This online interactive event, hosted by city staff, will help residents understand what climate change means for Port Coquitlam, what actions they can take as individuals, and how the city plans to achieve goals related to climate change adaptation and mitigation.

The interactive online session will be held Tuesday, June 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. providing attendees with the following opportunities:

  • Learn about the city’s Climate Action Plan — the case for climate action, the process to date and draft targets, principles, focus areas and objectives.
  • Ask questions and learn from the project team.
  • Provide input on the climate impacts you have observed and Port Coquitlam's principles and objectives for climate action.
  • Share your thoughts and learn from others about opportunities and considerations for taking action.

The event will be presented via Zoom, a virtual meeting platform. Registration is required at portcoquitlam.ca/climate. You will receive an automatic confirmation email upon registration and a reminder one day before the event.

If you are unable to attend but wish to view and add your feedback to the digital content, you can review the event material and share your feedback at portcoquitlam.ca/letstalkclimate.

The input received will help the project team refine the city’s draft Climate Action Plan to meet Port Coquitlam’s unique needs, and help them understand opportunities and considerations for implementing the plan.

Feedback to date for Port Coquitlam’s new Climate Action Plan has helped set new targets for reducing greenhouse gases (GHG) and outline the corporate and community actions required to achieve them, identify key partnerships, consider natural assets in mitigating climate impacts, and develop strategies for evaluating, reporting and communicating results as the actions are implemented over the next few years.
