Port Moody has closed its outdoor recreation facilities like sports fields, after Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam did the same earlier Sunday.

All recreational facilities in Port Moody’s parks are now closed.

Sunday, the city extended its closure of indoor facilities like the rec centre and arts centre, to basketball and tennis courts, skate and bike parts as well as sports fields.

Parks and trails are still open, but users are being urged to maintain social distancing protocols by staying one to two metres apart and avoiding large gatherings.

The closures are being noted by signs staff posted on Sunday.

The cities of Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam closed all their fields and sports courts on Sunday.

BC Hydro also reduced hours and parking availability at Buntzen Lake recreation area; it now opens at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. As well, visitors won’t be allowed to walk into the park.
